With all of the native wildlife around, Knockhatch is a great place to discover animals in their natural habitat.

You'll also discover some areas that we've purposely let become overgrown to encourage the growth of 'natural plants', which some may mistakenly refer to as weeds, and even some rare examples of insect life. With so much focus these days on the sculpting of our natural environment, it's easy to forget that 'natural plants' do serve a purpose. At Knockhatch, we understand this and let them shine just as nature intended, creating mini ecosystems that thrive as they were also meant to. This can be a fascinating experience for visitors, and may also introduce some younger visitors to some plants and wildlife they may not have encountered yet. Each of these ecosystems attracts a range of insects which provide food for birds and so continue the life cycle that these areas illustrate so well.

There are many vantage points for enjoying the tranquil natural surroundings of Knockhatch Adventure Park. All we ask is that if you picnic, you take any litter home with you or use the bins provided - and that you wash your hands after touching any of the animals.
