Wallabies at Knockhatch Children's Farm

We now have a fantastic Wallaby Walk Through for visitors to Knockhatch.  Get up close and feed the wallabies with the farm food which can be purchased from the entrance for 50p. Our wallabies are really friendly and love it when children come in to stroke them and feed them. Please ensure that you use the hand washing facilities afterwards.

Wallabies originally came from Australia but now are found wild in New Zealand where they are considered to be a pest

Wallabies are marsupials and carry their babies around in their pouch.  The baby is called a "joey" and lives in it's mothers puch for the first 7 months of it's life. When they are very small they are in danger of being taken by foxes so we try to make sure there is a llama in the field with them to protect them.
