Rabbits at Knockhatch Children's Farm

Rabbits are herbivores; this means that they only eat vegetable food.  Their food should consist of :

  • a mix of grain
  • carrots
  • apples
  • lettuce
  • hay

Their teeth continue to grow throughout their life but are ground down by the food that they eat

Most of our rabbits have been 'adopted' or taken on from previous owners who have become unable to look after them any more

Do not be worried if you see rabbits eating their pellets (faeces) as the pellets eaten are cecal pellets and are a necessary part of a rabbit's digestion

Rabbits have water available in their accomodation at the back of their run
